Stopped in for lunch (June 2012) one day while camping at Hayden Creek Campground. Had never been here before and I’m always on the look-out for quaint, out-of-the-way restaurants. My family is always fearful of where I might take them, be it a road I have never been down or a local restaurant off the beaten path. Heaven knows we have had more than our share of adventures that went south on us because of my wanderlust. But we’ve made a lot of memories and there have been some sparkling jewels found along the way. Barry’s den is one of those jewels, and I will definitely be coming back again. Everything just clicked for me here. I liked the ambiance (a little rustic – which I liked, very clean and comfortable). The wait staff was great! They were charming and checked on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you, ladies! My hat goes off to the cook; whoever is in the back rattling the pots and pans is gold. I’ve eaten at a lot of these small diners found in the less traveled parts of Colorado and basically I keep my expectations low. But everyone in my family, including myself, thought that Barry’s food quality was way in another league compared to like places that we’ve tried. Very simply, it was better than good and I would not hesitate to bring my friends. We ate supper there and I want to come back and try breakfast and lunch. We had the chicken fried steak, cheeseburgers, philly sandwich (my daughter is a fanatic about these and she said it was the best she had ever had; which to get that kind of compliment out of her takes some doing). By the way, the strawberry shake was killer. I have no complaints about Barry’s Den. This place deserves your business. Thanks to everyone there for making the stop worthwhile and worthy of a repeat trip.
